About Us

Dr. Offman is a registered psychologist working with adults in the town of Perth.  She works with a diversity of mental health concerns.  These include, but are not limited to: relationship difficulties, identity issues, life transitions, sexuality, self-esteem, stress/anxiety, family of origin issues and overall well-being.

Dr. Offman's approach to counselling can be described as client centered; incorporating Object Relations and Psychodynamic theories and employing Gestalt and Focusing techniques.  Fundamental to the success of her counselling process is working within the experiential framework of the client.

Dr. Offman also has a love for teaching and research in psychology.  The majority of her work has focused on adult populations, studying such diverse areas as workplace productivity, the effects of discrimination on health, communication in intimate relationships and the effects of relationship violence on self-esteem.  As an Adjunct Research Professor at Carleton University she teaches a variety of courses including the Psychology of Women, Human Sexuality and Social Psychology.  Supervision of research students at the Honour's and Master's levels rounds out her academic work.

Working within the community has always been important to Dr. Offman.  For many years she has volunteered with Planned Parenthood doing community education and options support counseling for women with unintended pregnancies.  She has worked on training manuals, trained community educators and acted as a mentor to options counselors in training during her time with Planned Parenthood.  In 2003 she was recognized for her work in the field of human sexuality and was awarded the Norman Barwin Scholarship from the Planned Parenthood Federation of Canada.  As well, Dr. Offman enrolls in continuing education classes to maintain competence in her profession and attends and presents her research at conferences across North America.
